Green Lane Park...

Yesterday I hung out with my old college roommate and her two little boys. We had fun! We went to Green Lane Park and Matty got to play on the 'schwing', which he was thrilled about. The intention was to get some good shots of the three of them but with no sun in the sky and a speedy toddler, it was difficult. I struggled. I must admit, after seeing how my photos turned out... I'm discouraged. I felt like I had been improving little by little, but now I'm not so sure. I had to bump my ISO to 800 and many turned out grainy and blurry due to SS. And I feel like I had zero creativity. Perhaps I should stick to stationary objects for longer. Advice? As always, CC is welcome...

mom will love these. You are your worst critic. Sometimes it's good to go through this because it makes us take a step back and think about what we did/didn't like or what we could have done better. The fact you're more aware of things means you ARE improving so be proud of that! We all have shoots like this, where the photos didn't turn out the way we had "hoped" but really...these are nice. The colors really pop and you managed to capture some cute shots.

Maybe a few tighter crops and paying attention to your background in a few would have made these just a tad better, but really...don't be too hard.

They are great!
My fav is the one with the baby's 2 legs, and the kid with the flower.
But they are all great!

The last one has a great color intensity. Love it!
Good work!!

I agree with Heather everyone is their worst critic! Everytime one of my friends asked me how it went, I always say I wasn't happy with them. They give me such a hard time about my attitude. But I think it makes us determined to get better and you are more aware of minor things next time. Don't be so hard on yourself, I'm sure mom will love them!

I think you are being hard on yourself. They came out great, I esp love 2, 3 and the last one. Im sure Mom will love them. The shots are very clear and came out nicely. Just take notes and better luck next time!! Plus shooting a toddler isnt always easy.

I'm right with you here. I feel like I think I'm getting better, then have a day where I'm not satisfied with a single shot. I think these are nice and the mom will love them. The last one is my favorite both for color and composition.

Like everyone else said, don't be too hard on yourself. Re-examine the photos, figure out what you could of done differently and learn from the session. Im sure mom will be thrilled with the photos.

Sometimes the important thing is to get the "emotion" and not worry so much about the technicalities:) I think you did just that:) Great Job!

I think you did a great job with these! I especially love the one with him looking out the window (?) and where he's blowing on the flower... cute!

i think that last shot is so fun! love the feel of it and the mom's fun smile. I also think a few tighter crops would make a difference---but don't be hard on yourself...:)
